FAQs – Does the host know who the killer is?
In essence, a murder mystery party game is a search for the killer, and yet many versions on the market are created with only one killer. The host that pays for the game, sets up the room, organises characters, and usually spends money on food and drink doesn’t even get to play, because they know beforehand whodunit.
Not with our games. Sisters Grimm games were created specifically so that the host can play too! Read on to discover how and why that is…
How we help our hosts
Our hosts mean the world to us, choosing our murder mysteries from the many options out there, sharing their feedback, and letting us know the fun they have playing our games. The host is the most important, so why would we spoil their fun?
While you can know who the killer is if that is your preference (see further down the page), it should be up to you to try and catch the murderer along with your guests. When you purchase one of our games you will find a Host Guide with everything you need to know to throw a killer murder mystery. Without revealing who is guilty.
Our 2 types of game
We have two different types of game that have different ways of keeping the killer hidden. In the first style, the fully scripted games for 5-15 players, anyone can be the killer, including the host! Take our Clue-less Killer game. Each of the up to 15 characters has their own means, motive, and opportunity, with highlighted portions to read if they are guilty or if they are innocent.
You decide who the guilty player is by chance, picking a slip out of a hat, though you can of course rig it if you do want to know!
For our evidence based games, there is only one killer and all the evidence points to that person. However, you don’t need to know who that person is! Simply do not open the file marked ‘guilty declaration – do not read!’ and you can play the game properly along with your guests until the very end.
If you want to know…
If you do want to know who the killer is, in either of our formats, it is entirely up to you! For our fully scripted games, you can simply tell one person they are the killer if you like, while with our evidence based games you can take a peek at the guilty declaration.
Some of our hosts have preferred doing this as they can then pick a specific individual to be the killer. You can also have a lot of fun knowing you are the killer and trying to keep it a secret rather than not being sure along with everyone else!
Play it your way and die laughing…
With any one of our games we want you to have the best time possible and enjoy it to the fullest, so play it your way and don’t hesitate to contact us with any queries at any point! Check out our selection of games now and see if you can catch a killer along with your guests.
