Read on for a step by step guide to hosting the event of the season, sure to be Tons of fun for family and friends to enjoy…

Select your game

The first step to organising your Bridgerton themed party is to purchase your murder mystery game. The Ton’s Tea Party can be played with either 6-10 guests or 10-15, depending on your group size. You will find a mix of potential diamonds, dashing rakes, one murderer, and by far the scariest of all – marriage minded mamas!

Out of the available characters, 6 are core roles that MUST be played in order for the game to work. When you are considering who will receive the invitation of the year, make sure to assign these core characters to guests that are sure to attend. Once you have purchased the game, you will find everything you need to guide you through hosting a party, or you can read on below.

Set the crime scene

In order to through a truly fabulous ball, you need to transform your home or garden into a Regency era party. This sounds tough to achieve, but you don’t need to be as rich as Lady Whistledown to pull this off, you would be amazed at the hidden treasures you already own that suit the theme. Candles, lace tablecloths or curtains, and fairy lights can all give a magical feel to your party.

Set up a series of small tables with tea cups and cakes, clear a ‘ballroom’ dancing space, and don’t forget the most important ingredient when setting the scene – a killer playlist! Each of our games comes with a Spotify playlist to suit the theme, so get ready for orchestral versions of modern hits with our Bridgerton ballroom belters.

Dress to kill

Dressing in the style of Bridgerton again doesn’t have to break the bank. You don’t need to visit a modiste to come up with an outfit worthy of any fairy godmother. Many charity and thrift shops have an impressive array of gowns for you to discover. Regency era outfits for women tended to involve empire waist dresses and don’t forget the accessories! You can do a lot with a fan, some gloves, or a fascinator.

For men just a pair of dressy trousers, a shirt, and then whatever tie or cravat you wish to wear to add a touch of style will look wonderful. Accessorise with a top hat, cane, or pocket watch to really look the part.

Send out the invitations

Receiving an invitation (or not as happened so often for the Featheringtons!) is a key part of throwing a Bridgerton inspired event, and at Sisters Grimm we’ve got you covered. Included in your Ton’s Tea Party game you will find printable invitations to send out to your guests, as well as email versions if you want to add a modern twist to your classic party.

Don’t forget to let your guests know what role they will play and how they should dress, and remember at the time punctuality was fashionable!

Regal Regency refreshments

A top tip to really set your party apart is to ensure that the food and drink on offer is also on theme. Serve glasses of lemonade (alcoholic or not), tea pots of actual tea or with one of our tasty bespoke cocktails inside, and set out nibbles to suit any high tea. Little sandwiches and cakes can be made for relatively cheap and look wonderful on the tables and in pictures of the event.
