We get so many great, varied, and individual questions from our customers, hosts, and those interested in playing and hosting a murder mystery party game, and we are always happy to hear from you! There are many questions, however, that get asked over and over. These ones we have answered here for you, to help make your party one to remember – and for all the right reasons!

 

Can the host play?

Yes, all our games are written so that every character and player can be the murderer, including the host. See our host guide for details on how to select the murderer so that no one knows who it is including the host.

 

Who is this murder mystery game for?

Our games are suitable for most ages though there are some puns, silly jokes, and of course murder in our games, so it is up to you to decide if you are happy with those underage playing. We write light-hearted games for family and friends who enjoy each-others company, a drink, a joke and a good time. They are not written solely for the super sleuths who want a really meaty mystery with codes and clues for you to solve – since they are written so that anyone can be the killer that would be impossible.

 

How do you play?

The full details of how to play including a guide you can refer to while playing and a host guide that goes over each step in detail. To give you an overview, you as the host will decide which of your guests will play each character (we have a handy character overview to give you an idea of what they are like).

Whether you are playing in person or on zoom will affect how you pick the killer, either by picking slips out of a hat or asking someone to do it for you and let everyone know what they are. The games have 3 rounds of questions where each character will ask and answer 2 questions each, as well as a newspaper article and extra speeches to give you more clues.

You will then go around the room and make your accusations before giving your guilty and innocent declarations. Make sure to leave time at the end to award certificates for best detective, best actor and best dressed and grab a picture or two as well.

 

Is this murder mystery party game suitable for beginners?

All out games have complete character scripts and a how to play guide making them completely suitable for beginners. If you have a guest who is nervous or unsure of how to play refer them to the how to play guide and they will quickly pick up the game as they go.

 

How difficult is it to host a game?

We have included everything you might need to host a game and make it clear how, but you don’t have to read through all of the information if you have done it before or are feeling confident – it’s just there in case you need a hand. In general our games are fairly simple to host, just pick the time and place, invite your guests as each character and get ready for some delightful detective work.

 

What’s the difference between the zoom editions and the in person games?

We have two versions of each of our games depending on if you wish to hold your party in person or online. If you are not sure which you will end up doing we recommend getting the in person game as it includes both the printable and online versions of the documents while the zoom version just includes the online kind. The extras and host guides are tailored towards the different ways to host to give you further help and ideas for your party so check them out.

 

Do I have to print the game?

You absolutely do not have to print the game if you don’t want to. Our games are environmentally friendly digital downloads. All of the character booklets have been formatted to work on your phone or other device including the game menu with the questions you will ask. However, there are certain games and certain documents that you might prefer to print.

You will have to make the newspaper article and how to play guide available to your guests either by email, screen sharing or however else you wish. The extras again are there if you wish to use them but do not require printing, it is up to you. Our grandmother likes her booklet printed out while we play on our devices so you can play however you wish!

 

Do I need to use the extras?

No, the extras are just ideas and fun additions that we think might round out your night and make it even better! Check out our Spotify playlists, print some custom labels for your drinks and don’t forget the certificates – but only if you want!

 

I have more guests than the number of characters what can I do?

Unfortunately the number of characters included in the game is the total available, we don’t have extras. However, many groups have played with more people than there are characters. Some acting as detectives and listening along to try and find the killer without active character booklets. Some even as the murder victim or simply as a bystander enjoying watching and listening, but it is up to you.

 

Do you make custom games?

Sadly right now we are working on several upcoming and exciting new games and so don’t have the time to dedicate to custom games, but watch this space for the future!

 

I don’t have much time how can I make the game shorter?

Our games can take a relatively short amount of time if you power through and don’t take breaks, particularly with less characters. If there are 15 of you and you wish to take breaks for each round it will understandably take much longer, so if you are short on time speed up and cut down on the downtime.

 

I have an issue what should I do?

We are absolutely dedicated to giving you the best experience possible so if you have any concerns or issues please don’t hesitate to message us and let us know before leaving a review and we will do our best to aid you. We love to hear from you and find out what we can do better and how we can improve your experience.

 

Should I leave a review?

Your feedback means the world to us and we love to hear how much you have loved our games and what kind of experience you have had, particularly as we are two sisters and still learning and growing. Please let us know in a message about issues and give us a chance to respond before leaving a review and we hope that everything will be sorted quickly.

 

How do I unzip the files?

 Simply double clicking a zipped file should unzip and create a new folder that looks like any normal folder. You could also right click your folder and select 'unzip'.

 

I can’t unzip the files what should I do?

Send us a message and we will send your game over to your email instead as soon as possible!
